My name is Dorie (Hertzel) Maryan. I was born in Calumet City, Illinois. I graduated from the University of Illinois in 1995 with a Bachelor’s Degree in Political Science and a minor in Sociology. I attended law school at Indiana University School of Law in Bloomington, Indiana. Subsequent to my graduation in 2000, I began my career as an attorney in the area of insurance defense. I practiced insurance defense for several years. I handled a wide variety of cases including wrongful death claims, personal injury claims and construction accident lawsuits on behalf of insurance companies.
I elected to leave my practice in insurance defense and join Kammen, Maryan & Moudy because I wanted to use my legal experience to help people, not corporations. I have always recognized that being subjected to the criminal justice system can be a daunting and intimidating experience. I am now happy and proud to say that I am part of an effort to ensure that individuals facing criminal charges are educated about the process, receive the best representation possible and obtain the best possible results in light of the complexity of their situation.
