My name is Mary Spears, and I was born in Crowley, Louisiana. I received my B.A. in English and philosophy from the University of Notre Dame in 2004, graduating magna cum laude, and my J.D. from Indiana University School of Law - Bloomington in 2007.
I accepted a job with Richard Kammen because I believe strongly in the right to representation for all those accused of a crime, no matter what the circumstances. It is because of this belief that I have worked on a range of complex cases involving allegations of murder and white collar crime, as well as a case involving a Guantanamo Bay detainee and numerous appeals from convictions. In 2010, I also assisted in the defense of a client facing the federal death penalty, and was pleased to see the jury refuse to sentence him to death.
My goal is to continue to help ensure that all people receive the benefits of their rights under law. I am pleased that this firm offers me the opportunity to work with and help people as they deal with the difficulties arising from investigation or arrest.
