There is nothing worse than being accused of doing something that you did not do. However, such situations quickly escalate when one is accused of committing a violent crime.
One man, age 19, is facing over 20 criminal charges in connection with the death of a Lebanon man, age 73 and an assault on that man’s wife, age 68. However, the accused claims he is innocent.
The 73-year-old man was stabbed to death in his home and his wife was assaulted early in the morning on June 18. According to police, blood stains on the 19-year-old man’s garments was the same as that of the 73-year-old man. The 19-year-old is facing charges of murder, sexual battery and burglary, among others. The prosecution is reviewing the situation, in order to decide whether they will seek the death penalty.
However, the 19-year-old says he is innocent. He claims he is not a violent individual. He reportedly feels sorrow for the stabbed man and his family, but he maintains he was not in that area of Lebanon when the alleged crime took place. He claims that it might have been a person who resembled him that committed the crime.
Time will tell how this man’s case will play out, but it is undoubtedly very serious. Given the nature of the crimes he is accused of committing, not only may he be facing life behind bars, but he may even be facing execution. Individuals in situations like this, especially those who are innocent, may want to seek help from a criminal defense attorney as soon as possible.
